Before visiting Ireland, I was mainly familiar with Harry Clarke through his book illustrations. Thankfully, my time in Dublin exposed me to his magnificent stained glass windows. They’re all over the city - this one, based on the Keats poem “The Eve of St. Agnes,” is at the Hugh Lane Gallery. The nearby Writers Museum houses loving tributes to Joyce, Yeats, Shaw and Beckett (and Bram Stoker - I’d forgotten that he was an Irishman), and…more Clarke windows.
